Student Excellence Awards for Technical Session Presentations and Posters. And the Winners Are...

Each year, NSMMS & CRASTE recognize students engaged in the event that are excelling in their field of study. All participating students presenting posters and technical presentations are reviewed by a panel of subject matter experts and three are awarded for their exceptional contributions. The winners for the 2020 Virtual Edition are:

1st Place: Mr. Adam Peters, The Johns Hopkins University (Additive Manufacturing for Space & Missile Materials Session)

2nd Place: Mr. Jecee Jarman, Missouri University of Science and Technology (Development, Processing, & Testing of Advanced Materials Session)

3rd Place: Maj Robert MacDermott, Air Force Institute of Technology (Hypersonics Session)

Congratulations to our winners! All of these presentations can be found on the Virtual Edition DVD in the sessions listed above. We encourage you to view these and reach out to them with questions and comments.

Student Grant Program

Submit your Student Grant Application

NSMMS & CRASTE is pleased to announce the student travel grant program for this year's “Virtual Edition” symposia. This program is intended to encourage student participation and provide networking opportunities for students with representatives from industry, academia, and government. The competitive grant program will cover the cost for Virtual Edition registration. Applicants are required to either give an oral or a poster presentation of their research. To be considered for oral presentation, abstracts and applications must be submitted by the abstract deadline. After this date, applicants will only be considered for poster presentations. Grants winners will be announced beginning in early February. Early submission of applications is encouraged.

Eligibility:
Full-time graduate or undergraduate students in good academic standing are eligible to apply. All applicants must be U.S. Citizens and have a DD 2345 (if not a military or government employee). All students must be taking summer courses or doing research over the summer to be covered by the University DD 2345. Students do not need individual DD 2345 certifications, but may fall under their school department's DD 2345. See the security page for more information on this. Abstracts on your suggested topic (300 words or less) are required with the application.

What is the Difference Between a Poster and Technical Session presentation on the Virtual Edition:
Technical Session Presentations will be submitted in as PowerPoint presentations with up to 25 minutes of voiceover recording allowed. Poster Presentations must be submitted in a poster format (single file size recommended is 4 ft x 4 ft and may include up to 15 minutes of voiceover recording allowed. Guidelines for creating these documents will be sent directly to participants.

Funding:
Awards will cover the cost of the Virtual Edition registration - $295.

There will be a job board accessible on our NSMMS & CRASTE website that you may post your resume on. If you are interested in participating in this, send your resume/CVs to Amy Walker at awalker@blue52productions.com. We encourage you to take advantage of this if you will be in the job market soon. Several students have secured jobs through our event job boards.

Winners will be announced in July or August. Cash awards will be mailed to the top three participating student posters after the event:
1st Place Student Excellence Award $500
2nd Place Student Excellence Award $300
3rd Place Student Excellence Award $200
