Student Grant Program

NSMMS & CRASTE is pleased to announce the student travel grant program for this year's symposium at the Green Valley Ranch in Henderson, Nevada. This program is intended to encourage student participation and provide networking opportunities for students with representatives from industry, academia, and government. The competitive grant program is designed to cover a portion of costs associated with attending the symposium including travel, student registration fee ($375 if application is received by March 15th, $450 after March 15th), lodging, and meals. Applicants are required to either give an oral or a poster presentation of their research at the symposium. To be considered for oral presentation, abstracts and applications must be submitted by the abstract deadline of 1/7/19. After this date, applicants will only be considered for poster presentations. Grants winners will be announced beginning in early February. Early submission of applications is encouraged.

Eligibility:
Full-time graduate or undergraduate students in good academic standing are eligible to apply. All applicants must be U.S. Citizens and have a DD2345 (if not a military or government employee). Students do not need individual DD2345 certifications, but may fall under their school department's DD2345. See the security page for more information on this. Abstracts on your suggested topic (300 words or less) are required with the application.

Funding:
Award amounts will vary, depending on the number of applications received and the needs of the applicant. The grant money will be distributed within two weeks after the conference has concluded. If you have a special circumstance that requires funding prior to the event, please notate that on your application.

Work-Trade Option:
If you are interested in stretching your grant funds, consider our work-trade program. The work-trade program gives you a complimentary registration to NSMMS & CRASTE in return for working 2 of the 4 days of the conference as either an Audio-Visual Support Assistant in the technical session or a Door Guard/Badge Checker. We will do our best to match volunteer's schedules with the times and days they would like to work. Training will be provided on-site. If you are interested in this option, please indicate so on your application form.

Job/Application Board:
There will be a board in the exhibit hall that students may post their resumes/CVs to and employers may post job openings. We encourage you to take advantage of this if you will be in the job market soon.

Excellence Awards for Posters:
Winners will be announced at the Wednesday evening reception. Cash awards will be mailed to the top three participating student posters after the event:
1st Place Student Excellence Award $500
2nd Place Student Excellence Award $300
3rd Place Student Excellence Award $200
