3rd annual Nano Materials for Defense Applications SymposiumYou are invited to the 3rd annual Nano Materials for Defense Applications Symposium, 21 - 25 February 2005 in Kona, HI (on the “Big Island”). This premier event, sponsored by the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) Materials and Manufacturing Directorate (AFRL/ML) in conjunction with DARPA, US Army Research Laboratory, and the Naval Research Laboratory, is committed to providing the necessary stewardship to bring nanoscience advancements to fruition within the aerospace community. Nanotechnology will profoundly change all critical aspects of maintaining a technologically superior defense capability. Leadership in nanotechnology research and development is thus critical to maintaining our technological edge in national defense, especially with regard to aerospace capabilities. This focused symposium brings together industry and government technical representatives to explore the potential of nanostructured materials to be realized in DoD programs in the near future. In addition, technical tours will be offered the day before the event on the Island of O’ahu and on Friday on the Big Island. Please join your colleagues at the forefront of this technology arena. The following is a preliminary agenda, which is subject to change. US Air Force/Taiwan Nanoscience Initiative WorkshopThe Air Force Office of Scientific Research is holding a workshop to present research in nanoscience in Taiwan and in the Air Force Research Laboratory on February 17 - 18 as a part of the Nano Materials Symposium. The presentations will include work being sponsored in Taiwan by the Asian Office of Aerospace Development and work in the basic research program at the Air Force Research Laboratory. The areas to be presented include those most promising to potential new products in the Air Force and the commercial economy. The venue is expected to be conducive to discussions among the participants and will also provide a forum for presenting new ideas not now part of the US Air Force - Taiwan Nanoscience Initiative. Please join your colleagues at the forefront of this technology arena for this double island, 7 day, dual event. We look forward to seeing you there!
